Australia northeast is a generally convergent boundary. The Australian Plate is a major tectonic plate. The Australian tectonic plate includes Tasmania, New Guinea, New Zealand, and the Indian Ocean. The Indo-Australian plate fused with the Indian Plate underneath the Indian ocean. Australia doesn't experience many earthquakes as it has no major fault lines. Large magnitude earthquakes usually happen once a year. The force build-up of pressure within the plate usually causes earthquakes.

Australia may be the world's most troublesome continent. Over time the county of Australia occasionally moves. Since the year 1994, the country of Australia has moved 4.9 feet northward. Australia is constantly moving because of the shifting of tectonic plates. Australia is one of the fastest-moving pieces of land.

  1. It seems Australia's tectonic setting will be such that some quakes can happen. I'll be very interested in what you find out about its earthquakes specifically this week!
